Hendrick Board names four new assistant vice presidents

The Hendrick Medical Center Board of Directors recently promoted four directors to assistant vice presidents. Susie Cassle, RN; Susan Wade; Brian Bessent and David Stephenson assumed their new roles on February 11.
“I am excited to welcome our new assistant vice presidents,” said Ward D. Hayes, Chair for Hendrick Medical Center’s Board of Trustees. “Their wealth of knowledge and expertise in their fields will enhance Hendrick Medical Center’s leadership.”
Cassle began working at Hendrick Medical Center in 1976 as a staff nurse in the operating room. In 1980, she left Hendrick briefly but returned in 1987 to her previous role in the OR. Since that time, Cassle has served as systems manager for Surgical Services, manager of Nursing Informatics, director of Nursing Informatics and director of Trauma and Women’s and Children’s Services. She is a registered nurse and earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Abilene Intercollegiate School of Nursing in 2004 and a master’s degree in nursing administration from Abilene Christian University in 2007. She also holds an advanced nurse executive certification.
Cassle is responsible for nursing administration.
Wade began at Hendrick Medical Center in 1994 as an admitting representative and was soon transferred to Human Resources as an HR specialist. She has held various roles at Hendrick including account representative for FirstCare and admissions supervisor and outreach coordinator for Hendrick Regional Lab. She left Hendrick to work as a claim supervisor for Blue Cross Blue Shield in 2001, but returned in 2002 as an admissions supervisor. Wade has also served as director of Admissions and director of Human Resources. She received her bachelor’s degree in business administration from Hardin-Simmons University in 1994 and is currently working on her executive master’s degree of business administration at Texas A&M University-Commerce. She recently obtained a professional in human resources certification.
Wade is responsible for support services including Human Resources.
Bessent began his Hendrick career in 1999 as a speech-language pathologist. He was promoted to senior speech pathologist and then to therapy manager. Bessent became the director of rehabilitation in 2008, and in 2011 he was named the director of Transitional Services. Bessent earned a bachelor’s degree in speech pathology at Hardin-Simmons University in 1996 and a master’s degree in speech pathology at the University of North Texas in 1998. In 2010, he became board certified as a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
Bessent is responsible for Transitional Services.
Stephenson began working at Hendrick Medical Center in 1990 as an admitting representative and was promoted to an admissions supervisor in 1991. He has also served as assistant director of Admissions, director of Hospice Care and director of Cardiology. He was named director of Hendrick Provider Network in 2011. Stephenson earned a bachelor’s degree of business administration in 1990 and a MBA from Hardin-Simmons University in 2009. He is board certified as a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
Stephenson is responsible for Hendrick Provider Network and Hendrick Anesthesia Network.
