Gallup Great Workplace Award

In 2007, Hendrick was one of only 12 organizations worldwide honored with the Gallup Great Workplace Award. In 2008, Hendrick was one of only nine organizations to receive the award for a second year. Based on survey results and Hendrick’s workplace engagement practices, the  Gallup Great Workplace Award honors Hendrick as one of the most engaged and productive workforces in the world. American Stroke Association Get With The Guidelines

The American Stroke Association has recognized Hendrick Medical Center as meeting the criteria of the Get With The Guidelines Stroke Program, making Hendrick a preferred hospital for stroke victims. To earn the designation, participating hospitals have to meet criteria regarding stroke treatment, prevention and staff preparation and teamwork. Most hospitals who implement the guidelines see measurable results in the form of improved patient outcomes.

Pathway to ExcellenceTM Designation

Hendrick Medical Center has achieved the Pathway to Excellence designation from by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), a subsidiary of the American Nurses Association (ANA). Hendrick is one of only 65 hospitals in the state to be awarded the designation, which recognizes the essential elements of an ideal nursing practice environment. The Pathway to Excellence designation identifies the elements of work environments where nurses can flourish. The designation confirms the professional satisfaction of nurses at Hendrick Medical Center and identifies it as one of the best places to work. Home Health Collaborative Quality Achievement Award

Hendrick HouseCalls received the Home Health Collaborative Quality Achievement Award from the TMF Health Quality Institute, the Medicare Quality Improvement Organization for Texas, in 2007. Out of more than 1,000 home health agencies in Texas, approximately 400 chose to work with TMF on quality improvement over the last two years. Of the participating organizations, Hendrick HouseCalls was one of 51 to receive the Quality Achievement Award. Hendrick HouseCalls received the award for reaching required levels of improvement in two quality measures: preventing avoidable hospitalizations and improving how patients take their medications.

American Society of Directors of Volunteer Services Extraordinary Award

The Hendrick Equine Rehabilitation Opportunities (HERO) program was one of two national winners chosen as an Extraordinary Awards program by the American Society of Directors of Volunteer Services (ASDVS) in 2007. The HERO program serves individuals with emotional, cognitive and physical disabilities by utilizing horses for therapeutic treatments based on the principles of Classical and American Hippo therapy. The program, which began in 1992, is the only one of its kind in the Texas Midwest.

American Association for Respiratory Care Quality Respiratory Care Recognition

Hendrick Medical Center joined 41 other Texas hospitals in earning the Quality Respiratory Care Recognition (QRCR) from the American Association for Respiratory Care in April 2008. At the time, only about 700 hospitals out the 5,000 U.S. hospitals had earned the award, which recognizes Hendrick for providing quality respiratory care services to its patients and community. Hospitals earning the award ensure patient safety by agreeing to follow a strict set of criteria to govern their services.

Blue Distinction CenterSM for Cardiac Care 2007

Hendrick Medical Center was designated as a Blue Distinction CenterSM for Cardiac Care in 2007 by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas. Blue Distinction CentersSM were selected based on clinical data supplied by hospitals. Each facility’s structure, processes and care outcomes were rigorously evaluated, and hospitals must meet nationally endorsed quality measures to receive the distinction.

Workforce Solutions of West Central Texas 2008 Employer of the Year nominee

Hendrick Health System was nominated as the West Central Texas Local Employer of Excellence and Employer of the Year employer in 2008. The honor nominates Hendrick for state recognition for outstanding service at the annual Texas Workforce Conference in December 2008.
